Falahari Dahi Vada

Falahari Dahi Vada
Ingredients:

1 cup Samak Rice powder
2 Boiled and mashed potatoes
1/4 cup roasted Fox nuts
1 tbsp  green chilies and ginger paste
3 tbsp Finely chopped coriander
1 tsp Cumin seeds
Oil for deep frying
Sendha salt as per taste
1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
2 cups Beaten curd
1/4 tsp sugar (optional)
1/4 tsp red chilli powder

For Tempering:

1 tsp oil
2 Whole red chilies
1 tsp Jeera
1 sprigs Curry leaves
1 tbsp peanuts

Method:

1. Dry roast fox nuts till crisp and grind them into to a coarse powder.

2. Now, in a deep pan, take 1 cup water add salt and bring it to boil.

3. Next, add samak rice powder and cook on medium heat until it forms a dough consistency. Once done, switch off the flame and let it cool slightly.

4. Take boiled & mashed potatoes, in a bowl, add the samak rice dough, ground fox nuts, green chilies and ginger paste, salt, pepper powder and chopped coriander.

5. Mix well and make vadas taking small portions of the prepared dough. (Tip: You can wet your hands a little if the dough is sticky)

6. Now heat oil in a wok and fry the vadas till crisp and golden brown. Make sure you fry them in batches and do not overcrowd the kadhai (pan).

For the tempering:

1. Heat some oil in a pan.

2. Once it is nicely hot, add cumin. As it splutters, add whole dried red chili and some peanuts. You can add some more red chilli powder if you like.

3. Switch off the flame and add curry leaves.

For serving:

1. Beat or sieve the curd into a smooth and even consistency.

2. Now add salt and sugar and give it a nice mix.

3. Now, place two vadas in the serving plate and pour some curd on top of them.

4. Sprinkle some black pepper and chilli powder and pour the sizzling tempering on it.

Your falahari dahi vadas are now ready to eat! Enjoy!!
