Cheesy ❤ Bread
Deliciously soft and cheesy bread! Here I have used cheese spread but you can customize it and made this bread with any cheese or any filling of your choice!
Ingredients:
Lukewarm Water or a Mix of Milk and Water - 150 ml (2/3 cup)
Butter or Olive Oil – 20 grams (1 1/2 tablespoons)
All Purpose Flour -125 grams (1 cup)
Whole wheat flour – 125 grams (1 cup)
Sugar or Honey – 1 table spoon
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
Instant Yeast – 1 teaspoon
Egg- 1 (for egg wash, optional)
(You can use any basic bread rolls recipe for the base)
Filling:
Cheese spread
Oregano (You can also put any other herbs of your choice)
Method:
1. Mix yeast in 1/8 cup warm water and a teaspoon sugar and keep aside to rise.
2. Add warm milk, egg, butter, sugar, salt , the risen yeast and mix well.
3. Add flour to the mixture and knead well for 10 minutes till the dough is smooth.
4. Keep aside, in a greased bowl for 1 hour covered with a wet towel for the dough to rise.
5. After an hour knock down the dough and knead for a minute. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions. Roll out each rolls into two large ¼ inch round shapes and cut into hearts.
6. Place one half on the baking sheet lined with a parchment paper. Spread the filling over it, leave 1 cm from the edge.
7. Brush the outer edges with a thin coat of milk or water. Cover with the second dough spread and seal the edges well using a fork. Other designs are left to your imaginations and keep aside for another 30 minutes.
8. I had cut 2 heart disc and put filling on one, covered it with the other and then sealed the edges.
9. With the rest of the dough, roll it out reasonably thin and cut into strips and weave - one over the other.
10. Just before baking, brush the top of the dough with egg or milk wash, and make few slits on top for vapors to escape.
11. Bake in a pre - heated oven at 180 C for 25 to 30 minutes till it is done.
12. Once baked and done, remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
13. Slice using a bread knife and enjoy!
